POSITION SUMMARY

The Sustainability Coordinator will support the implementation of sustainability recommendations and plans for our global operations. Through a high level of research and reporting, this role will provide direction to customers, suppliers, and internal departments on a variety of topics, including environmental policies, packaging industry regulations, social responsibility practices, and recycling programs. This position will also coordinate audit processes internally and with our network of supplier partners to remain compliant with sustainability goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote industry-leading best practices in sustainability for product specifications, sourcing, and production
  • Research various sustainability topics concurrently and provide accurate and up-to-date information related to guidelines and requirements for presenting to stakeholders
  • Monitor domestic and international packaging regulations for updates and necessary action
  • Assist department management in the development, execution, and monitoring of new and existing programs related to sustainability, social responsibility, and environmental management
  • Review requirements and complete reports for various compliance agencies, such as Social Accountability International and the Forest Stewardship Council
  • Evaluate supplier audits and certifications to confirm supplier compliance; maintain and update related documentation in supplier database
  • Develop supplier compliance profile materials to support Account Executives in their customer presentations and other business development efforts
  • Assist in the development of training programs to support sustainability initiatives and in an effort to educate employees on all necessary regulatory and industry practices
  • Coordinates cross-functional department teams to develop and apply sustainability principles to accomplish corporate goals

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to research, analyze, and explain legal and regulatory policies and procedures that are relevant to sustainability practices for the packaging industry supply chain
  • Skilled in providing clear and accurate reports related to compliance requirements and necessary supporting metrics
  • Capable of completing all tasks with a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and follow-up
  • An aptitude for problem-solving effectively, efficiently and with a sense of urgency based upon priorities
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively in a fast-paced environment to oversee all phases of assigned projects

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, or four years of related experience in a similar role
  • Experience researching new information, determining necessary action, and communicating findings to other parties
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work as a team with those located in various time zones
  • Must possess organization skills and a high level of attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize based on urgency
  • Ability to perform physical requirements for occasional inspections at warehouse
