POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Manager is responsible for the oversight and management of quality, forecasting, inventory, production planning, operations, and shipments within production facilities in Italy. This position works closely with suppliers to implement, monitor, and manage quality and inventory control systems; establish and update inventory forecasts and quality reporting; and coordinate with suppliers and freight forwarders in planning shipments to and from the production facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Management

Work with the supplier to develop, monitor and support the supplier’s quality system to include:

Samples

Inspects samples to insure they meet specifications provided prior to shipping to customer

Raw Materials
  • Reviews supplier’s reports on Incoming materials’ compliance to specifications
  • Conducts random inspection to audit supplier’s process and confirm compliance
  • Works with supplier to complete a Corrective Action Plan where non-compliance issues occur
  • Reviews with supplier’s purchasing department to confirm raw material delivery schedule meets production schedule and customer delivery dates
Production and Packing Inspections
  • Performs random inspection at any stage of production process to confirm quality meets Infinity Global’s specifications
  • Performs random inspection of finished goods from inventory to confirm quality meets Infinity Global’s specifications.
  • Identifies potential quality problems in production and make adjustments with factories to prevent them
  • When quality issues are identified in production, provide suggestions and work with the supplier quality manager/factory manager to solve the problems and avoid the same issue in the future
  • Works with supplier to complete a Corrective Action Plan where non-compliance issues occur
Reporting
  • Works with supplier on production process specific (hot stamp, printing, gluing, etc.) target reject rate
  • Requires CAP reports from Factory QC Manager if rejection rate is higher than target
  • Reports to management on the performance of the quality systems
  • Provides other reports to Infinity Global’s Account Management teams as required
Customer Complaints
  • Follows up with supplier on customer complaints, such as late delivery and quality issues
  • Provides performance quality reports for supplier
Compliance
  • Monitors, controls, and performs regular review with the factories to ensure they follow the quality system and quality guidelines in production and inspection
  • Oversees compliance, including audits with certification requirements based on standards outlined by multiple certification associations, including SA8000, REACH, FSC, etc.
Continuous Improvement
  • Works with the supplier to provide suggestions on continuous improvement for efficient production and product quality
  • Further develops quality management by contributing to the supplier’s quality guidelines, procedures and work instructions for the factory

Forecast Management

  • Works with the supplier to project the raw material purchase requirements based on the monthly running forecast for finished goods production

Production Plan Management

  • Reviews supplier’s plan for raw material purchase vs. forecast vs. production plan vs. inventory
  • Reviews the supplier’s production plan compared to forecast and inventory

Inventory Management

  • Works with the supplier to develop and monitor the inventory management system for raw materials, work progress materials (WIP) and finished goods as they relate to forecast
  • Works with Supplier to develop inventory reports to allow view of inventory status
  • Monitors and checks during packing and in finished goods inventory to ensure correct carton markings specifications are followed

Operation and Shipment Management

  • Monitors supplier’s confirmed ship date and their shipment arrangements to include:
  • Working with supplier to ensure freight bookings are made in advance, especially for peak seasons, and industrial program start dates
  • Correct documents and loading instructions
  • Provides performance quality reports for supplier following shipping schedule provided by Infinity Global Hong Kong team

Other

  • To be able to work with supplier for any ad-hoc issues that may arise

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • College Degree in Business or a related field, or five (5) years of related professional experience in the packaging manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge of logistics and carton handling for ocean, air, and ground shipment methods; knowledge of production and quality control
  • Ability to quickly identify quality issues using the proper observation tools; experience in documenting quality concerns and drafting corrective action plans (CAP)
  • Fluency in Italian and English
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs./22 kg.
  • Extensive travel required: 80% in Italy/Europe; 10% in India; 10% Asia/US
